Why Converte is different

  • Your files are never uploaded

Conversion happens inside your browser. Your documents never travel across the internet or get stored on a server, so there is nothing to delete and nobody who can read them.

  • No queues, no waiting

With no upload and no server download, conversion starts instantly and never depends on your internet speed.

  • Free, with no daily limits

No accounts, no free trials, no cap on files per day, and no watermarks stamped on your documents.

  • Works on mobile and desktop

The same tool on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac and Linux. Nothing to install.

Frequently asked questions

Is converting files here really free?

Yes. No accounts, no paid trials, no daily file limit and no watermarks on the result. The site is funded by the ads you see on the page.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion runs inside your browser, on your own device. Your documents never travel across the internet, so nobody can read them and there is no copy left to delete.

How long until my files are deleted?

There is nothing to delete, because we never receive them. As soon as you close the tab, the file and the result disappear from the browser memory.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes, on Android and iPhone, with no app to install. Image and PDF conversions work normally; for very large files a computer is better, since phones have less memory available.

What is the maximum file size?

It depends on the type: 100 MB for images, 200 MB for PDFs and up to 500 MB for audio and video. Since everything is processed on your device, the real limit is the memory it has available.

Is quality lost during conversion?

It depends on the formats. Converting to PNG, TIFF or FLAC loses nothing. Converting to JPG, WEBP or MP3 does involve compression, and in those cases we default to a high quality so the difference is not visible to the naked eye.

Can I convert several files at once?

Yes. Drop in as many files as you like and either pick one output format for all of them, which is the default, or assign a different format to each one using the "A format for each file" option.
